This Saturday, knowbotiq will share their molecular fabulations driven by plant substances, gold and mercury particles. The artists will talk about their projects Swiss Psychotropic Gold and Mercurybodies: Remote Sensations in the exhibition Gold and Mercury, you can find it when you face the sun, close your eyes at Chronus Art Center.
Swiss Psychotropic Gold celebrates the moments when gold refined in Switzerland loses its stable form, moments of dissipation and dispersion, when its classical manifestations are transformed into its derivative, psychotropic and molecular dimensions. Gold molecules transform from violence into virtuality, into clean Swissness.
Mercurybodies: Remote Sensations investigates sequences of satellite images of the Atrato River in the Chocó region of Colombia which is highly contaminated with mercury. Here many institutions from civil society, science, art engage nowadays and have established a techno-ecological mentality which approaches this environment from a distance, through Remote Sensing, a vertical form of empathy.
knowbotiq will also discuss another project Dark Matter Radio Station Jeetze in the exhibition Postscript of Silence at Ming Contemporary Art Museum. The work fabulates on the ecological micro-processes of a private garden within a highly technologised agricultural landscape in northern Germany. The barely perceptible non-human exchange processes are absorbed and recorded in a physical radio studio via a plant panel of dried psychoactive plants and transmitted in the global broadcasts of KAL-Radio.
What would it mean to look at remote sensations, gold refinings, plant resorbing with other sensibilities and afflictions and release its energies of colonial and humanistic driven injuries, its healings and shared imaginations?
