The digital procedure, introduced in the 1940s, was intended to eliminate not only the noise in the channel and its surroundings but matter itself. The lecture “Time of Non-Reality” looks at the origin of the digital, its materiality, complex systems and proposes alternative modes of computing. Furthermore Baecker will show examples of his artistic practice that are embedded and intertwined with his research.
