Hyperborean by GAO Yixuan, LIQiaoxi, LIU Zhicheng, SHEN Cong, XU Chumen, ZHANG Wenyu explores the dynamic connection and active transverses between a group of organisms and their umwelt. Artists place nine individual plants into one circulatory system and split them into three layers in accordance with weather elements: temperature, humidity, and luminous intensity, which are in turn quantified as data collected to implement real-time control toward the system and even decide the priority of vital resource distribution among the three layers. To achieve a Hyperborean environment for growing as reflected in Greek mythology; the perfect balance of the three weather elements and symbiosis of the nine plants, not only under technological influence, but also by occasional human labour to frequently change their living environment.
